James Suckling: 95 Points
Rich and fragrant with a wide spectrum of aromas, from summer flowers to licorice and black pepper. Rich, deep and structured, this great Cote-Rotie has what we look for in this famous appellation. Very long finish with stunning tannins, violets and stony minerality. Amazing depth for only 12.5% alcohol! Drinkable now, but best from 2025.
Decanter: 94 Points
Showing some reduction still on the nose, but not problematically so at this stage. Medium-bodied, mouth-coating fruit is very fresh and well balanced. The tannins are more succulent than most in 2021, and along with the fine, zesty acidity and tempered alcohol, this is very promising, and should be excellent if the reduction is resolved during élevage. The score assumes it will be. From four lieux-dits and 25-year-old vines in the Côte Blonde, aged for 21 months in barrels of various sizes and ages.
